Interview with Kelipé Flamenco: Authentic Flamenco in Málaga

Are you traveling to Málaga and looking to experience an authentic gympsy flamenco show? Then you should consider a night at Kelipé Centro de Arte Flamenco!

Kelipé has been keeping the soul of flamenco alive since 2001, when bailaora and cantaora Susana “La Yedra” first opened its doors and set out to build something truly legendary.

The traditional Spanish art form of flamenco is far more than a performance. It’s a way of life, a cultural inheritance passed down through generations.

The flamenco performances at Kelipé are delivered in an intimate space where you can feel every stomp, every note, and every moment of emotion.

Flamenco at Kelipé is raw, spontaneous, and very touching!

Last time I visited Malaga in April 2026, I had the chance to visit the Kelipé Center for Flamenco Art (or Kelipé Centro de Arte Flamenco in Spanish) firsthand! And it was a truly amazing and unfiltered flamenco experience!

In this interview post, I’m giving the floor to the team behind Kelipé to share their story, what drives them, what makes their flamenco different, and why you should visit this little flamenco corner of Málaga!

Let’s get started!

Interview with Kelipé Centro de Arte Flamenco: An Authentic Flamenco in Málaga

In this interview, you will learn more about Kelipé Centro de Arte Flamenco in Malaga; the story behind this unique flamenco venue, why the venue was started, and many more reasons why you should make time in your Malaga itinerary to book a flamenco show at Kelipé!

Let’s get under the skin of the Kelipé Center for Flamenco Art!

Hola! Tell us a little about yourself!

¡Hola, Becci! KELIPÉ – Centro de Arte Flamenco is an intimate flamenco theater & academy. We are a unique pioneer and private institution in the flamenco space.

Since 2001, we have presented Gypsy flamenco through shows and workshops. We aim to do so in the most natural and authentic way possible.

When was Kelipé Centro de Arte Flamenco started? And what inspired the start of the venue?

KELIPÉ was born in 2001. The adventure was started by the founder & artist, Susana Manzano.

In the ‘Cruz Verde’ gypsy neighborhood in the center of Malaga, Susana wanted to create a special space where aficionados and fans of this culture and art could reunite and share their love for authentic gypsy flamenco.

Soon, the rumor spread, and KELIPÉ grew a lot.

During the past more than 25 years, KELIPÉ has formed many artists who today are well known in the local Flamenco scene in Spain.

How would you describe Kelipé Centro de Arte Flamenco to somebody visiting Málaga for the first time?

Kelipé is a special and honest place to get to know flamenco in Malaga.

At Kelipé, you can feel welcome and at home, and you can experience flamenco in its original essence.

In the same way as flamenco was developed in the homes of Gypsy families over the centuries, Kelipé is a place with its own identity.

The team at Kelipé wants our visitors to feel the flamenco in this family-like environment.

Why should somebody visit Kelipé Flamenco on their trip to Málaga?

Without being too pretentious, through the comments of our visitors, we understand that for many, the visit to KELIPÉ was their highlight in the trip to Malaga

Attending a flamenco show at Kelipé is an opportunity to genuinely get to know the Flamenco Gypsy Andalucian culture.

What is the best part of running Kelipé Flamenco? And the worst?

The best part is that we can combine the business with our passion for art and flamenco.

We feel so privileged to receive so many excited people every night! We thank God every day that the public comes to see a flamenco show with us.

We get to work in an environment that is pleasant and with great people.

Worst part is the bookkeeping 😅

What are you most excited about right now with your business?

We are very excited about a new format that we present on stage, including three artists who represent the three main components of Flamenco:

  • Susana Manzano – Singing and Dancing
  • Azukita – Guitar
  • Antonio Cortes – Singing

We want to present Flamenco with a lot of improvisation, including original theatrical and philosophical ideas.

It is complex as it is more raw with less decoration and additives, but it is also more pure and intense!

What is your favorite place in Málaga? What makes it such a special place?

Los Baños del Carmen, no doubt! Here you can truly breathe liberty and freedom while drinking coffee.

In the province of Málaga, our favorite place must be the village of Ardales!

Ardales is a magical and hidden place that has a strong identity and feelings.

What are your plans for the future?

We are working on various projects on big stages and tours.

But honestly, our goal is to continue performing in KELIPÉ until we are 120 years old.

Where can we learn more about you?

We invite everybody to visit our website www.kelipe.net.

… But honestly, the best way is to come to Malaga and say hello 🤗 ♥️
