For many many years I have had an old Nikon D40 which has been many places with me and perpetuated many great moment. However, it is getting old and slow, so with these upcoming travels of Latin America, I wanted an upgrade. Therefore, I decided to use some of the money from the travel saving account on this new wonder.

I bought the camera used from aΒ Β Danish second-hand website as you might reflex cameras can be quiet expensive. So far from this evenings quick inspection it seems almost completely new. It was delivered from the former owner in the orginal boxes and with all the possible papers and instructions you could possible ever ask for! Amazing somebody saved all that. Great to hear you found a decent camera Becci. I’ve been searching for the ‘perfect’ travel camera for ages but am way too fussy. The problem is I love shiny gadgets but also love embracing a minimalistic approach when travelling. Thus, something compact but professional is on my radar.

      Hi Barry,
Thank you for your comment and greetings! I get your dilema between travelling minimalistic and shiny gadgets πŸ™‚ Though, I know that Nikon (and properly also other brands) are beginning to make smaller cameras with the “gun power” of the bigger reflex cameras. What I have heard is that they are in the same price class as the reflex ones. I’m not aware of the model names etc. but maybe worth a search?
I have had a smaller camera once and I simply forgot to use it when I was out… Haha, maybe my problem but still. When I got my first reflex camera I started just taking walks with only the camera and a bottle of water when I was travelling. I found that it was a very nice way to get lost in a new city or place. Therefore, I choose to continue with the bigger model πŸ™‚ Safe travels to you!
